A long, future-oriented history

The Autopromotec Formula

Autopromotec is the most specialized international exhibition for automotive equipment and aftermarket products.
The 24th biennial edition will be held at the Bologna Exhibition Centre from May 25th to May 29th 2011.
The organisers have always aimed to capitalize on the specialisation,  representative and professional aspects of the exhibition which, thanks to the attendance of so many qualified exhibitors, has kept pace in over forty years of history with the technological and professional growth in the automotive sector.

Origins

In 1964, during a Conference of BIPAVER (the European Association that brings together all national associations operating in the tyre retreading sector) in Stresa, AIRP (Italian Tyre Retreaders Association) organized a small exhibition of equipment and products for tyre retreading, which attracted considerable interest.
Characterized from the beginning as an International Exhibition, in 1965 Autopromotec was launched in Rome with the collaboration of AIRP under the name of  SARP (Tyre Retreading Equipment Exhibition),  with the objective of giving visibility to the technological development in the  retreading sector which was booming at that time.
From 1967 onwards, it consolidated its biennial form which still distinguishes the Exhibition held in Bologna.

Continuous growth

1973 was the start of a new phase and  SARP was  joined by SIAC (International Exhibition for  Equipment, Service Centres and Bodywork Firms), which virtually ended the pioneer period of the event, introducing a new product category, that of equipment for garage service centres and bodywork centres, represented by AICA (Italian Garage Equipment Manufacturers Association). SARP-SIAC expanded its horizons with a new scenario and the Exhibition soon became the benchmark event for the represented sectors.

The Autopromotec brand

The turning point came in 1991 with the transformation from SARP-SIAC into Autopromotec.
It enhanced its international vocation and lay the foundations for future development of the automotive industry.
From this perspective, in 2005 Autopromotec opened up to new sectors such as spare parts, components and car services to represent the entire automotive aftermarket sector.

Autopromotec today: the automotive business

Autopromotec is currently the most renowned business platform for advanced technologies, innovations, new products and market opportunities.
It has distinguished itself as the most highly specialised international biennial aftermarket and equipment exhibition in the automotive field.
Based on its vision of continuous development, each edition highlights all the latest market trends.

The Autopromotec difference

The strength of Autopromotec is due to its unique structure and features:

Professionals in the spotlight

Autopromotec is the exhibition for automotive professionals.
It is an association based event, founded and developed to meet the needs of exhibitors and visitors representing an international benchmark for business opportunities.
An added value of the exhibition is the quality of its exhibitors: exclusively authorised manufacturers and representatives.

The Exhibition within the Exhibition

Autopromotec represents a kind of selection of specialised fairs. Its hall-by-hall setup allows visitors to easily plan their routes, according to the commodity and professional interests.

A Worldwide Showcase

Autopromotec is the worldwide showcase in the automotive world, it attracts top class exhibitors  in many areas and is the main intersection for all automotive aftermarkets.

Appointments and projects

Numerous side events and initiatives boost the vitality of the Exhibition even further.
The last edition, for example, also hosted the Futurmotive Exhibition, a new concept on sustainable mobility for the present and the future.
Another consolidated event is the  EAAS (European Automotive Aftermarket Symposium), a European Forum and ideal meeting place for decision makers.

Autopromotec in the centre of the "Motor Valley"

This event has a longstanding tradition, with technology and passion for engines as its core value, thanks to the locations it has always chosen for this event: Bologna and Emilia Romagna, renowned everywhere as the  "Motor Valley", the home of many car and motorcycle manufacturers who have made the history of two and four wheeled vehicles, also thanks to the technological contribution by industries working right along the product chain.

The Exhibition  in figures

Autopromotec is a well-established event which is constantly evolving.
There is a steady increase in the number of exhibitors. The 2009 edition reached a record of 1,443 exhibitors, 32.4% of which from abroad, representing 47 different countries, and 101,620 visitors, 16,689 of which flying in from all corners of the world.
